I have been in the restaurant and bar business for a long time, and have seen my share of mistakes. The first step in getting a bartending job is getting an interview.
If you aren't going to be located too far from where they work now, you may be able to draw a significant volume of traffic in to at least give your place a chance. It will not all be fun and games, every good thing has a few bad things to go along with it at times. It is really hard on a person when they think they have it all figured out, as far as what their job requirements would be with a job, then once they begin, they realize they really had no idea what all their job would actually require of them, it can really be a let down when that happens.
Bartending does require skill. The faster the student is able to complete transactions, the happier his or her patrons will be. Finally, keep proper glassware behind your home bar.
When your day job slows down your bartending job will pick up. The bartender must have all the right materials available all the time.
