Whatever reason that has been chosen to become a bartender, I am almost positive that your bartending job is fulfilling you in every way and it has brought you plenty of extra income, to help you out in life. When the economy isn't doing well, bar business can actually go up.
I bartended to work my way through both undergraduate and graduate school, and have gone back to it several times when I grew weary of corporate life. Some lawsuits have been filed and courts have found bar tenders guilty for continuing to serve alcohol to those that were obviously very drunk, so you have to always be aware. Welcome all of your customers as though you know them and introduce yourself.
It s only after you pass the final exam that you get to unlock your certificate and can then call yourself a professional bartender. The big difference between bartending and any other business is that bar customers usually come to the bar not because of the drinks offered but because of the bartender and the atmosphere. Bartenders are expected to show their personality behind the bar.
So, be quick with your hands and smooth on your feet, to keep those customers happy and satisfied. You need to do what is comfortable for you.
