The glitzy, glamorous excitement behind the bar is what draws an individual to step behind the bar and become a certified mixologist. The profession of bartending is in the hospitality and entertainment field, and vocational and technical bartending schools can prepare you for an interesting and exciting career in the industry.
A slow bartender will make more unhappy customers than drinks. Creating an original drink gives you recognition and larger clientele even if you switch bars. A bartender who spends too much time attending the customers can be a problem as well, since they will either leave a big mess, or else rack up overtime hours doing things they should have been doing during their regular shift.
It s only after you pass the final exam that you get to unlock your certificate and can then call yourself a professional bartender. To become a successful bartender, or mixologist, it takes years of practice. Wash glasses when they become empty so that you will always have spare glasses.
Rise above your peers by going out of your way and doing that extra bit just to please your customers. Do not believe the myth that bartenders need to know hundreds of recipes.
